Efforts underway to recruit physician to Quadra Island following successful fundraiser

The Quadra Island Foundation is thanking the community for supporting a recent fundraiser for the local health society.

The foundation partnered with the Quadra Island Health Society to administer the fundraiser, which set out to raise $50,000 to support recruiting a new family practice physician.

An update from the foundation said the $50,000 benchmark was surpassed after just two weeks.

“Due to all those who stepped up so generously, the resources are now in place to pursue the goal of attracting a new family practitioner to our community,” a statement from the foundation said.

The foundation said a recruiter is already working to find a physician who will be a good fit for the community. It added the process is complex, competitive and takes time.
