City asking developers to fight “erosion explosion”

The city is urging developers in Campbell River to help prevent “erosion explosion”.

With winter rains and snow here the risk of erosion at development sites is up. The city says large areas of exposed soil can lead to heaps of muddy discharge running into storm drains, ditches and creeks, which is a threat to local waterways.

To help fight that the city is launching an information campaign reminding developers that erosion and sediment control measures are their responsibility. Letting muddy discharge into a waterway or storm drain can lead to a fine.  For more information call Terri Martin, the City’s environmental specialist, at 250-286-5711 or email [email protected].
